P90X Protein Bars

These are pretty good. If you want them to set up best add more oats!!!

Ingredients:

4 Scoops of Protein Powder
*2 cups Oats*
3 Dashes of cinnamon
3 Heaping Tablespoons of Peanut Butter
1/4 Cup of Unsalted Peanuts
1/4 Cup Sugar Free Maple Syrup
1/2 Banana
1/2 Apple

Instructions:

Mix Banana and Apple until mashed (we use a food processor)
Stir everything together, if you have a stand mixer this is ideal, if not, you can mix with a spatula or large spoon, but it does get really thick
Lay the mix out between wax paper on a cookie sheet
Freeze for about 45 min or so
Cut into bars

We have only made this once so far and used a chocolate flavored protein powder. We doubled the recipe because what the hell are you supposed to do with a half banana and a half apple?
We also only used the advised amount of oats and as a result, the bars don't stay in bar shape when in room temperature. So on our next attempt we are adding more oats.

One other thing that we altered with this recipe is instead of using unsalted peanuts we used a chunky peanut butter. The best thing would probably be to use an all natural peanut butter and actually put in the 1/4 cup of unsalted peanuts... but using the chunky peanut butter was damn good!

*I made this recipe again and instead of 2 cups of oats we used about 3 cups of oats. As we sectioned them off into wax paper we rolled the mixture in oats as well to make for an easier way to eat.* (3/8/10)
